OpenAI is joining forces with the government to hold a manufacturing expo for college students.

The Small Business Administration announced earlier this week its plans to host the event at Atlantic Technical College in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. OpenAI and the Department of Labor will join the SBA as co-hosts for the event, which takes place Wednesday.

One of the main goals of the expo

One of the main goals of the expo is to pair manufacturers with students seeking jobs as the federal government continues its goal of shoring up domestic production. The expo will share information on workforce development programs, helping students apply to apprenticeship programs.

The expo is sold-out—there is currentaly a waitlist for attendees.

“Through our new Workforce Expo series, we are enlisting the support of trade schools to connect the next generation of skilled workers with good-paying jobs in the critical industries that will strengthen America for generations to come,” SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler said in a statement.

The expo is advertised as one that’s “designed to cultivate a pipeline of skilled workers.” Plus, businesses that attend will have the chance to learn more about federal retracts and access capital

It’s unclear what role OpenAI will play during

It’s unclear what role OpenAI will play during the expo. Details for the event only suggest that employers will learn how to increase their workforce productivity when using AI. OpenAI did not immediately respond to Inc.’s request for comment by publication.

OpenAI has an entire suite of reness. More than five million businesses are using it, according to the company

The expo will further the agreement that the SBA and the Labor Department inked last year. The memorandum of understanding between the two agencies focuses on equipping the American workforce to expand domestic manufacturing. That MOU runs through April 2027.
